I have fixed a new boot lid seal to the lid (older style), now the rubber is so stiff that I have to use greatest force to close the lid. What can I do?

Rear Boot Lid Rubber
Anyone out there know the best way to fit a new rubber seal to a bootlid? its one with small clips in the lid which hold it in, I have tried but its a nightmare? or is there somewhere out there that would fit it, I'm in Worcestershire.

boot lid seal
does anyone know how to fit the boot lid seal. i have tried to fit it but when i try to close the boot the seal stops it from closing. should the seal touch on to the lip on the body or should it go into the groove?

Old style boot lid seal fitting
Hi guys
After a bit of help. I've just bought a new boot lid seal (old style fits to lid) for my mini (on going ground up project).
Any ideas how to fit it? I've got the 26 clips that mini spares says you need, but I thought that they would have sent some sort of fitting instructions.
Looking at the clips, they look a right pain to get out if i put them in wrong, so any help would be gratefully received.

Boot lid
I think Dan was asking about a fibreglass bootlid, not a bonnet, and as far as I know the basic shape and position of the hinges don't change throughout the life of the mini. The recessed area for the numberplate is different on early bootlids, but that won't affect the fitting.

Minis locks too vulnerable! Gonna shave the handles on boot + doors...
not exactly, secondary keys in the b posts, and extra ones in the boot lid

Rear ended! Write off?
In that case they sell a repair pannel for rear of boot floor, plus repair pannel for bellow the lights, then just need new bumper, and boot lid and valance

sump plug thread
Ordered the repair plug today, plan is to permanantly fix the plug and do the oil changes via the dip stick hole as per Smart cars. Oh the joys of owning a mini again....the last time I owned one it had a starter button in the floor and the word seven on the boot lid!!!!!

What bits do I buy?
where is the rust in the pannels? ur car is mk5 i would think most pannels will say mk3 on and they should be fine mk 1 and 2 cars have differnt doors, boot lid and frount is differnt at bonnet edge, frount floor pan is differnt and a planels. most other pannels fit all models although there my be slight differnces. best cheak b4 u buy any.

My first mini
doesnt look cheap with all the pannels involved id gess around 1k-1.5k , need new rear lower half, new boot lid, new lights, new bumber new valance , new rear section of boot floor all will prob come to around 300, then sparying around 400, welding around 500 at a gess. if the insurance say its a right off make sure it doesnt get scrapped.

MKII Cooper S Boot Badge
Hi, I'm doing a Cooper S MKII retro styling on my Mini but am stumped as to the accurate height position of the boot lid badge ALA 6536 with surround ALA6542 which require four holes in line across the boot lid with the outer two 7" apart and the inner two 1 3/4 apart.
Has anybody a genuine boot lid or knows the accurate position of these holes to a know reference poimt.
Many Thanks

Trepidation understood. I'm working away today but when I return home I'll uncover the car and measure the horizontal centre line from the top edge of the boot lid. I will measure it down the curvature of the boot for you.
